Cross Border Family Support

Between 2009 and 2013, over half a million parents of US Citizen children were deported. Many of the deportees we meet in Tijuana were primary breadwinners for families residing in Southern California, and own property and businesses in the United States. Some are single parents whose US citizen children were taken into foster care when they were deported. Deportation often occurs suddenly, leaving families little time to plan for the enormous changes wrought by separation.

Al Otro Lado has assisted dozens of families with cross-border custody issues, and helps connects family members residing in the United States to social, legal, medical, housing, and mental health services.

If you or a family member has been deported and you need help, please contact Fabiola Saucedo, our Client Care Coordinator.
